چکیده
Abstract The current study examined upper elementary school children’s frequent, efficient and adaptive use of direct subtraction ( DS ) by addition SBA when mentally solving multi-digit subtractions, replicating expanding previous research Torbeyns et al. (2018). First, children were offered subtractions in two choice conditions which they had to indicate whether would or solve each item. In the choice-compute condition allowed make actual calculations, choice-decide not do so. Thereafter, no-choice (mandatory either ). Results showed that made untrained strategy. متن کاملSchool choice: an experimental study
We present an experimental study of three school choice mechanisms. The Boston mechanism is influential in practice, while the two alternative mechanisms, the Gale-Shapley and Top Trading Cycles mechanisms, have superior theoretical properties in terms of incentives and efficiency. Consistent with theory, this study indicates a high preference manipulation rate under the Boston mechanism. As a ...
متن کاملExpanding “Choice” in School Choice
Truthful revelation of preferences has emerged as a desideratum in the design of school choice programs. Gale-Shapley’s deferred acceptance mechanism is strategy-proof for students but limits their ability to communicate their preference intensities. This results in ex-ante inefficiency when ties at school preferences are broken randomly. We propose a variant of deferred acceptance mechanism wh...

School choice has presented economists with opportunities to study and design student assignment systems, which in turn have helped push forward the frontiers of mechanism design theory. In this survey, we discuss the student assignment problem in school choice, related issues, assignment mechanisms and new developments in the theory and practice of mechanism design within the context of school...
